Miss Earsley Alene Shinault, 85, of Ararat, passed away early Friday morning, October 16, 2015, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Miss Shinault was born December 1, 1929, in Surry County, one of ten children born to the late Ben and Vader Poindexter Shinault. Alene retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after many years of service and was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church. She is survived by a sister, Gloria Thornes of Ararat; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Beulah Shinault and James and Jackie Shinault, all of Mount Airy, Bobby and Alma Shinault of Thurmond, and Wilbur Shinault and Katherine Shinault, both of Dobson; a brother-in-law, Vernon Turner of Hamptonville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Miss Shinault was preceded in death by two sisters, Frankie Turner and Gladys Hawks; and two brothers, Wilson Odell Shinault and Thomas Benjamin Shinault. The funeral service will be held Monday, October 19, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Little Mountain Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Watson and the Rev. Rayton Puckett officiating. Burial will follow in the Level Cross United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Little Mountain Baptist Church, c/o Verla V. Phillips, 930 Siloam Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, the staff at Priddy Manor, and all her caregivers.
