Edna Conchita Simpson Bowman

Mrs. Edna Conchita Simpson Bowman, 77, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, August 30, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mrs. Bowman was born April 21, 1946, in Durham County, the daughter of the late R. Richard and Dorothy “Dot” Vernon Simpson.  Conchita graduated from North Surry High School in 1964.  She retired from Surry County Schools as a data manager at East Surry High School for many years.  Mrs. Bowman was a Christian and a member of Cedar Lane Baptist Church.  She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jerrold D. Bowman; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerrold Thomas “Tom” Bowman and John Richard and Jenn Burns Bowman; her grandchildren, Erica and Tyler Bean, Bryant “Daniel” Bowman, James W. Burns, II and his longtime girlfriend, Kelsey M. Brownfield, and Johnathon Burns; and four great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Gray “Tim” Simpson.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 10:00 AM at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Ed Bowman officiating.  No formal visitation will be held; however, the family welcomes family and friends to the home following the graveside service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD  21741; or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC  27017.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
