Edna Mae Haynes Branch

Mrs. Edna Mae Haynes Branch, 92, of 782 Haystack Road, Mount Airy, passed away Friday evening, May 23, 2014, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Branch was born October 18, 1921, in Surry County, one of seven children born to the late Dixie Albert and Rosa Mathis Haynes. Edna was a homemaker and a member of Blues Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle and Bill Patton and Jean and Tony Bullin, all of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Kathy Branch of Mount Airy; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Randy and Kelly Bullin, Krystal and Bill Kirkman, Walter F. Griffith, Billy and Hollie Griffith, Michael and Lori Griffith, Brad and Shelly Patton, Marna and Ramey Freeland, Shawn and Sharon C. Branch, Matt and Sharon V. Branch, and Charity and Kane Shelton; twenty-four great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Betty Haynes of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Branch was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Ray Branch; a granddaughter, Robin Bullin; a sister, Annie Atkinson; and four brothers, Woodrow Haynes, Tom Haynes, Charlie Haynes, and Amon Haynes. The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 25, 2014, at 4:00 PM at Blues Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tony Holder and the Rev. Roland McCraw officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at Blues Grove Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Blues Grove Baptist Church, c/o Donna Draughn, 3069 Red Brush Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
