Edna Doby Corder

Mrs. Edna Doby Corder, 88, of 724 Creed Street, Mount Airy, passed away early Thursday morning, December 26, 2013, at her home. Mrs. Corder was born December 15, 1925, in Surry County, one of ten children born to the late Charles Edgar and Mary Etta Badgett Doby. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a member of Dobson Church of Christ. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Julie Corder, Mike and Mo Corder, and Jimmy and Yvonne Corder, all of Mount Airy; five grandchildren and their spouses, Josh and Nikki Corder, Jenny and Travis Atkins, Laresa and Jason Watkins, Casey and John Meredith, and Julie and Johnny Fletcher, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Hallie Corder, Finley Corder, Kellan Atkins, Sam Jude Atkins, Charlie Watkins, Maddie Watkins, and Emma Meredith; a brother and sister in law, Jack and Freda Doby of Dobson; her caregiver and special niece, Frankie Butcher; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Corder was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bruce Corder; three sisters, Jessie Doby Matthews, Josie Doby Atkins, and Grace Doby Culler; and five brothers, Alonza Edgar Doby, George Allen Doby, Curvie Ray Doby, Garland Doby, and Lloyd Doby. The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Pastor Ralph R. Sproles and Brother Wayne Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the New Home Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
