Edward Yancey Brintle

Mr. Edward Yancey “Eddie” Brintle, 69, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, following a short illness.

Eddie was born June 28, 1957, in Surry County, one of three children born to the late Thomas Yancey Brintle and Lena Wolfe Gilley.

Eddie retired from Carter Utility Tree Service. He enjoyed playing a good game of pool and chess and was excellent at both, especially when he had a cold Mountain Dew close at hand. Eddie also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and treasured the time they shared together. He was a master woodcarver and took great pride in creating many company signs throughout Surry County.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Shelby Stanley and her husband, Chris, of King; a stepson, Leslie Rice of Pinnacle; two stepgrandchildren, Taylor Stanley and Corbin Stanley, both of King; a brother, Tommy Brintle and his wife, Sheila, of Pilot Mountain; a sister, Karen Brintle Carter and her husband, Dwayne, of Mount Airy; three nieces, Christy Brintle O’Neal, Elizabeth Carter Vernon, Chynna Brintle Smith; two nephews, Kelly Brintle and Julius Brintle; along with a good friend and neighbor, Devona Shumate of Mount Airy.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Brintle was preceded in death by a niece, Martha Carter Minix.

A private graveside service will be held at White Plains Friends Meeting Cemetery, with the Rev. Max Combs officiating. No formal visitation will be held.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Carolyn Whitt for her dedicated assistance and compassionate care prior to Eddie’s passing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the White Plains Friends Meeting Cemetery Fund, 849 Old Highway 601, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Additionally, those wishing to make a contribution may do so to help defray funeral expenses.
