Edwin Dean Deal

Mr. Edwin Dean Beal, age 68, of Fancy Gap, Virginia, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026. He was born in Davie County on September 5, 1957, to the late Eddie Beal and Mary Propst Beal. Dean will be remembered as a devoted husband, a wonderful father and Papa, and a man whose love for family went far beyond blood. Dean had a big heart and believed that family was made through love. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply. He was someone his family could always depend on and a wonderful provider to his wife, working hard throughout his life to make sure those he loved were taken care of. As a dad and Papa, Dean created memories that his family will always remember. Dean was a talented woodworker who could create beautiful things with his hands. His craftsmanship reflected his patience, skill, and pride as Dean would say it looks good from Fancy Gap as he whistled at a job well done. Those things he created will serve as lasting reminders of the talented man he was. Anyone who truly knew Dean also knew his mischievous side. He was a jokester who was always up to something, ready with a joke, a prank, or a story that could get everyone laughing. He was a wonderful storyteller, and whether you had heard one of his stories once or a hundred times, Dean had a way of telling it that made you want to listen again as soon as you heard the words “long ago”. Dean leaves behind much more than the things he built with his hands. He leaves behind the family he helped build with his heart, the lessons he passed down, countless stories, plenty of laughter, and a lifetime of memories that will continue to be shared for generations. He was a provider, a protector, a craftsman, a storyteller, and quite the jokester—but above all, Dean was a family man he absolutely loved having everyone get together at his house for any occasion. His family will miss his stories, his jokes, his mischievous grin, the way he would throw his head back and laugh or throw his arm in the air saying winner! Left to cherish his memories are his children, Eric Beal, Jason Beal, Krystal Beal, Alex Beal, Crystal Hill and Justin, Fawn Shaw, Dawn Mullins, Chris and Tracie Pipinos; grandchildren, John Gates, Mattie Breuer, Skylar Smith, Cameron Beal, Ella Beal, Connor Beal, Sadie Jarrells, Brittany Lyman and Casey, Kelsey King, Madison Shaw, Chandler Shaw and Candance, Caleb Shaw, Jonathon Pipinos, Justin Pipinos and Elizabeth, Coey Pipinos; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Wanda Beal. In addition to his parents, Mr. Beal was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna Beal; brother-in-law, Mike Thompson. Though his seat may now be empty and his stories will have to be told by those who loved him, the laughter, lessons, and love he gave will remain forever. The family will hold a memorial graveside service on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at The Community Church Cemetery, with Pastor Howard Nester officiating. Dean Beal was genuinely loved by so many, and he will never be forgotten. Moodys of Mount airy is respectfully serving the Beal family.
