Elizabeth Anne Owens Rodgers

Mrs. Elizabeth Anne Owens Rodgers, age 89 of Patrick Springs, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025, at Sovah Health - Martinsville. She was born in Eckman, West Virginia, on December 19, 1935, to the late Charlie Edward Owens and Almedia Bishop Owens. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rodgers was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Jacob Rodgers; three children, William Rodgers, Ginger Bryant, and Kenneth Rodgers; stepmother, Nettie Owens; and six siblings, Carlynn Owens, Roger Owens, Roy Lester, Alvin Owens, Mabel Roberts and Bonnie Bowles. She had worked for Bassett-Walker Industries for 30 years. She enjoyed cooking for her family and loved going to New Beginnings Baptist Church for as long as she was able. She was the rock of the family that held everything together. She dearly loved her family and the Lord. Granny was known to say, “I know there is a God because I would be nothing without Him!”

Mrs. Rodgers is survived by one daughter, Sandra Branch of Patrick Springs; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Rodgers of Stuart; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dora Dillon of Spencer and Sylvia Rutherford of Aberdeen, Maryland; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rodgers will be held Friday, August 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Mark Wright officiating. Burial will follow in New Beginnings Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from noon until the time of the service.
