Elizabeth Louise Lundy Ramey

Mrs. Elizabeth Louise Lundy Ramey, 82, of Kernersville, formerly of Lowgap, passed away Tuesday night, June 14, 2011, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born June 29, 1928, in Surry County, daughter of the late James Garlie and Mattie Bartley Lundy. Mrs. Ramey worked in factories during World War II to assist the needs of the soldiers. She worked for Bell South after the war and then started working for Piedmont Airlines in 1948, one month before their first commercial flight. After deciding to change careers, Mrs. Ramey went back to school to receive her cosmetology license and open her own beauty shop, where she enjoyed working until she retired. Mrs. Ramey is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Gregory T. Stewart, Sr.; two grandchildren and their spouses, Gregory T. Stewart, Jr. and Karen Stewart and Sandra Dawn and Johnny Easter; four great-grandchildren, William Stewart, Tina Stewart, Shawn Easter, and Shane Easter; several loving nieces and nephews; and many close friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ramey was preceded in death by her husband, William Coy Ramey. A graveside memorial service will be conducted Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 10:00 AM at Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Russell Parsons officiating. The family will receive family and friends following the service on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Mountain View Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to the Lowgap Community Center, P.O. Box 234, Lowgap, NC 27024. The family would like to thank the staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, the staff of the Piney Grove Nursing Facility, and the staff of Kernersville Medical Center for their loving care for "Lib". Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is assisting the Ramey family.
