Ellen Ann "Red" Leftwich Peeples

Mrs. Ellen Ann “Red” Leftwich Peeples, age 82, of King, passed away Wednesday morning, July 23, 2025, at Surry Health and Rehab. She was born March 26, 1943, in Surry County to the late Claude Leftwich and Mary Gordon Leftwich. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Peeples was a lifelong beautician, who took great pride in her work and serving her clients. When she wasn’t working, Mrs. Peeples could be found sewing, dancing, or she loved to talk to her friends and family. Surviving Mrs. Peeples is her sons and daughter-in-law, George Edward Peeples, Paul Trent and Denise Peeples, Troy Edmund Peeples; grandchildren, Rick Peeples, Mark Peeples, Zach Peeples, Joshua Peeples, Kimberly Peeples, Chelsea Peeples, Jillian Peeples; great grandchildren, Payton Peeples, Annaleyce Peeples, Isabella Peeples, Madison Peeples, Maxton Peeples, Lexie Peeples; sister and brother-in-law, Donna Lineback and Tony; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe Leftwich and Judy, Tony Leftwich and Phyllis; brother-in-law, Sherman Jones. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Peeples was preceded in death by infant daughter, Tina Peeples; son, John Andrew Peeples; sisters, Claudine Jones, May Francis Coalson; brother, Howard Leftwich. A celebration of Mrs. Peeples life will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy with the Rev. Larry Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Peeples family.
