Ellis Junior Ayers

Mr. Ellis Junior Ayers, age 74, of Mount Airy, passed away on July 17, 2026 at his home. He was born on November 7, 1951 in Stokes County to the late Sidney and Mable Haynes Ayers. Mr. Ayers was a retired truck driver, proudly served our country in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will surely be missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory, daughter and son-in-law, Ann Slate (Dusty); stepdaughter, Gloria Ann Smith; grandchildren, Ashton Ayers, Paxton Slate, Phinn Slate, Elisha Harris (Stephen), Anthony Smith, and Vanessa Luna (David); great-grandchildren, Tyler Harris, Nevaeh Harris, Maddy Harris, Hannah Harris, Abygail Faith, Elena Luna, Ximena Luna, Izzy Luna, Cesia Luna; brother-in-law, Kenneth Boles. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by his son, Timmy Ayers; sister, Linda Kay Boles; and great grandchild Thomas Smith. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with service conducted by Rev. Terry Watson. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
