Elmer Eugene Galyean

Mr. Elmer Eugene “Gene” Galyean, 81, of Norfolk, VA, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013, in Norfolk, VA. Mr. Galyean was born December 25, 1931, in Surry County, NC, the son of the late Audy and Juanita Hanks Galyean. Gene retired from Norfolk Naval Supply Center with 30 years of service. He was the Worshipful Master of Norview Masonic Lodge #113 AF and AM in 1975 (the lodge's 25th anniversary). He was also Past Patron of Norview Eastern Star Chapter #131 and a member of Virginia #22. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ernestine Harrison Galyean of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, David E. and Felicia Galyean of Chesapeake, VA; a sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Bill Martin of Claudville, VA; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 27, 2013, at 7:30 PM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Norfolk, VA. The service will be conducted by Pastor Tony Forstall, and Masonic rites will be conducted by Norview Masonic Lodge #113 AF and AM. The family will receive guests at the church one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held Monday, December 30, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens, located at 432 Old Buck Shoals Road in Mount Airy, NC. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Elmo Hiatt. The family will receive guests Monday from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home, located at 206 West Pine Street in Mount Airy, NC.
