Emma Lorraine Thomas Childress

Mrs. Emma Lorraine Thomas Childress, age 90, of Mount Airy, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 at her home. She was born on January 1, 1934 in Surry County to the late John and Ella Martin Thomas. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter Bonnie Jones (Patrick); son, Bill Childress Jr; four grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; one special niece, Charlotte Flemming; special friend, Karen Elkhouja. In addition to her parents Mrs. Childress was preceded in death by her husband, William Clarence Childress Sr; sisters, Mary Lou Thomas, Geraldine Easter, Edith Thomas, Maggie Reynolds; brother, Johnny Thomas; daughter-in-law, Judy Childress. A private burial will be held at Oakdale Cemetery.
