Reid and Company in the 40's and early 50's and as a clerk in the United States Postal Service from which she retired in 1980. Era was a loving mother to her daughter, Helen Willys Snow Beam of Lenoir; and her son, Thomas Jonathan Snow of Dobson. She dearly loved her five grandchildren, Helga Lauretta Beam Lewis and her husband, Randall John, of Michigan, John William Beam of Lenoir, Annamarie Louise Beam Clark and her husband, Joshua Ian, of Sawmills, Thomas Jonathan Beam, deceased, and Haley Erin Snow of Georgia. Her great grandchildren, Jonathan Randall Lewis and Zachary Sean Lewis of Michigan, and Megan Savannah Clark, Dawson Lee Clark, Lincoln Wyatt Clark, and Nolan Trace Clark of Sawmills brought her much joy in her later life. She was a friend to everyone and a woman who lived the Golden Rule. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Dobson. She read her Bible daily and lived its virtues as long as she was able. She was a member of the Copeland Chapter of the Eastern Star. She had over 2,500 volunteer hours at Northern Hospital of Surry County as a pink lady. Era loved to make porcelain dolls, long-leafed pine needle baskets, cross stitch and other needlework projects, lovely crocheted doilies, and sew her own and family's clothes. She loved to go on trips with her sister and niece, Alma Poindexter, and was able to travel to most of the 50 United States and Panama. She lived a long, full and happy life, being blessed by God as she trusted Him at every turn. She will be missed by many. For the last four years of Era's life, she had some loving caregivers who faithfully made her life as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. They are Joann Rogers, Carol Atkins, Mildred Willard, Sharon Lawson, Ruby Tolnay, Linda Bowman, Donna Perdue, and Ginger Jones.
