Ethel Smith

Mrs. Ethel Sue Hill Smith, age 88 of Siloam, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.  She was born December 9, 1930 in Surry County to the late John Martin and Ada Jessup Hill.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, James Elbert Smith; her sisters, Ruby Coe, Phoebe Coon, Geneva Wright, Ida Corbell and Nonnie Joyce; brothers, Charlie Hill, Joel Hill, Lester Hill, Bob Hill and Jay Porter Hill. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and worked side by side with her husband on the family farm. She was a dedicated member of Siloam Baptist Church. Her passion and ministry was sending and receiving cards to family, friends and loved ones.  She is survived by her daughter, Linda Smith; son and daughter-in-law, David and Pam Smith; grandchildren, Heather (Luke) Hammaker, Haley (Gene) Efird, Hunter Smith (Katie Wall) and Ashley Mendenhall (Tim Scott); great-grandchildren, Gracie Hammaker, Maddie Hammaker and Emersyn Efird. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Siloam Baptist Church with Rev. Jarred Seal, Rev. Bill Faw and Rev. Stewart Mauck officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.  The family request memorials be made to Siloam Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 25, Siloam NC 27047, or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson NC 27017.
