Eugene Lee East

Mr. Eugene Lee "Dolord" East, 72, of Kernersville, passed away Thursday morning, October 20, 2011, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. East was born September 9, 1939, in Cumberland County, the son of the late Paul Samuel and Daisy Johnson East. Eugene retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Gina Leigh East of Kernersville, Rae and Steve Hurley of Kernersville, and Alexis and Daniel Newsome of Walnut Cove; a son, Paul Samuel Dolord East of Walnut Cove; five grandchildren, Cheyenne Hurley, Sierra Hurley, Nick Mello, Teagan Newsome, and Cash Newsome; and two brothers, George L. East of Tobaccoville and William Paul East of Thomasville. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at 7:00 PM at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, located at 3733 Ogburn Avenue in Winston-Salem. The Rev. Gus Thomas and the Rev. Cecil Cave will be the officiating ministers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 3733 Ogburn Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
