Ms. Eva Christa Dora Viegelahn McKenzie, 87 of Pilot Mountain, passed away on Sunday morning, December 7, 2025, at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation in Mount Airy. She was born on December 16, 1937, in Neuvalm, Germany to the late Walter Helmet Max Viegelahn and Luise Anna Minna Mikleff. Oma loved to bowl, earning many awards as she played throughout the years. Among other things, Ms. McKenzie loved her flowers, bird watching, and watching golf on TV. Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law. Michael and Frankie Lane of Mount Airy; grandsons, Joseph Lane, and Will and Amanda Lane; great grandchildren, Elijah Lane and Payton Lane; and many more friends and family. In addition to her parents, Ms. McKenzie was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Kolten Embry Lane; a toddler sister; brother, Siegfried Viegelahn; and her two special fur babies, Heidi and Pebbles. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday December 10, 2025, at 2:00pm at Skyline Memory Gardens. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
