Evelyn Marie Phillips Armstrong

Mrs. Evelyn Marie Phillips Armstrong, age 82 of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Armstrong was born in Dublin, VA on February 28, 1930 to Jesse Phillips and Bertha Horton Phillips and was raised by her foster parents Mr. and Mrs. Martin Bennett. She was retired from Quality Mills and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Donald Raymond Armstrong of the home, a daughter Susan Marie Armstrong Chilton and fiancé Mike Walker of Winston Salem, grandchildren, Candice Chilton, Josh Chilton, Shane Chilton and Sarah Chilton; a great granddaughter, Grace Chilton, a sister Mary Botkin of Mt. Airy, one niece Dr. Mary Scott of Redwood City, CA., one nephew Dr. Martin Botkin Barbourville, KY., four great nieces and nephews Bennett Scott, Michael Botkin, Thomas Botkin and Christine Jessup and a very special friend Mary Margaret Tuttle of King. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Armstrong and a sister, Ethel Dalton of Roanoke, VA. Funeral services will be held Sunday March 25, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Central United Methodist Church with services conducted by Rev. John Ferree. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service in the Ladies Parlor. Flowers will be accepted and memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church.
