Evelyn Frost Melton

Mrs. Evelyn Frost Melton, 86, of Mt. Airy passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy. She was born in Galax, VA on July 21, 1928 to the late Harley and Nettie Frost Frost. Mrs. Melton was retired from the textile business and was of the holiness faith. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Larry Smith of Mt. Airy, Freida and Charles Akers of Iron Station; grandchildren and spouses, Bernice and Michael Johnson, Larry "Lee" Smith, James and Mitzi Smith, Susan and Billy McRorie, Richard and Rhonda Akers; ten great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Howard Clayton Melton, and several brothers and sisters. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 15, 2015 at 3:30 PM at Laurel Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. David Turner officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
