Faron Douglas Deatherage

Mr. Faron Douglas Deatherage, age 61, of Cana, Virginia, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. He was born in Surry County on April 2, 1963, to Freta McKinney Deatherage and the late Douglas Gene Deatherage. He worked many years as a laborer within the roads and highway department until his health declined. Mr. Deatherage is survived by his loving wife of the home, Anne “Granny Anne” Robertson Deatherage; his mother, Freta McKinney; bonus children, Shannon Dawn Towe, Tina Towe Sechrist and Keith, Billie Towe Reilly; grandchildren, Dylan Jones, Dakota Hawks, Ashley Collins and Randy, Kenny Sechrist, Jax Sechrist, Fisher Reilly, Allie Reilly; special great grandchildren, Adlyn Collins, Rydan Collins; great grandchildren, Jacob Collins, Jared Collins; sister, Kimberly Holder and fiancé Steve Smith; aunts, Linda McKinney and Pansey Hall; niece, Jaclyn Holder; special cousin, Dennis Hall; special friend, Mark Jones. In addition to his father, Mr. Deatherage was preceded in death by grandparents, Clevis and Georgie Deatherage, Paul and Fannie McKinney; nieces, Ashley Holder; and brother-in-law, Jackie Holder. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Epworth Memorial Church with the Rev. Jimmy McCraw officiating. A burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
