Florence Irene Smith Coleson

Mrs. Florence Irene Smith Coleson, 77, of 430 York Thicket Road, Lambsburg, VA, passed away Saturday morning, January 17, 2015, at her home. Mrs. Coleson was born September 8, 1937, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Roby and Sarah Golding Smith. Florence was a homemaker and a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by five daughters and a son-in-law, Rebecca and Dave Smith of Winston-Salem, Bonnie Coleson and Vickie Hawks, both of Mount Airy, Kim Coleson of Wytheville, VA, and Bonita Payne of Lambsburg, VA; a son, Doug Coleson of Lambsburg, VA; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Faye Smith of Mount Airy; a half-sister, Cathy Smith of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Coleson was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gray Coleson; two sisters, Hazel Golding and Annie Ruth Smith; and six brothers, Hurley Smith, Clarence Smith, Glenn Smith, Claude Smith, Bobby Smith, and Crissie Smith. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Holly Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Spurlin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Holly Grove Baptist Church, and other times at the home of Vickie Hawks, 171 Oak Ridge Place, Mount Airy.
