Frances Louise Stanley Blackmon

Ms. Frances Louise "Peggy" Stanley Blackmon, 83, of 1405 Bluejay Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday night, April 18, 2012, at Central Continuing Care. Ms. Blackmon was born June 11, 1928, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Charlie and Myrtle Gray Stanley. Peggy worked in the local textile mills for many years and was a member of Welcome Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Tony Wood of Mount Airy; a granddaughter and her husband, Amy and Brian Bates of Alabama; a grandson, Matthew Wood of Mount Airy; two great-grandsons, Avery Bates and Drake Bates; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Blackmon was preceded in death by two sisters, Alfreda and Runell Hornaday; and two brothers, Mack Stanley and Kenneth Stanley. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Butch Holder officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Department at Central Continuing Care, 1287 Newsome Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
