Frances Hazlewood Martin

Frances Hazlewood Martin, age 98 of Stuart, VA, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Patrick County on April 20, 1928, to Richard Irvin Hazlewood and Essie Newman Hazlewood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. “Possum” Martin, one sister, Nelda Hutchens, and a brother, James Hazlewood.

She loved gardening and tending to her flowers.

She is survived by one daughter, Devon Simmons of Patrick Springs; two sons, Preston Martin (Mary) of Patrick Springs and Ray Martin of Stuart; five grandchildren, Amy Wyatt (Brian), Bryce Simmons (Laura), Lindsey Simmons Pace (Jon), Emily Keffer (Shawn), and Faith Hubbard (Aaron); six great-grandchildren, Miller Keffer, Porter Keffer, Kinley Hubbard, Emma Hubbard, Tilley Keffer, and Emmett Pace

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Big A Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
