Frances Carter Shelton

Mrs. Frances "Ma" Carter Shelton, 87, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Shelton was born July 22, 1922, in Guilford County, to Frank and Olivia Moore Carter. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Mrs. Shelton was also the oldest member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church, where she had been a member for over 30 years. Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Robertson of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Lydia Shelton of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Randy Robertson and wife, Denise, Wendy Mosley and husband, Kirk, Christy Smith and husband, Carl, Becky Trivette and husband, Darrell, and the Rev. Tommy Shelton and wife, Donna; ten great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shelton was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Franklin Shelton; a sister, Augusta "Billie" Jordan; and a son-in-law, Raymond Robertson. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at Blue Ridge Baptist Church, by the Rev. Tommy Shelton, the Rev. Woody Flippen, and the Rev. Larry Stone. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the church.
