Freda Jo (Boggs) Johnson

Ms. Freda Jo Boggs Johnson, 70, of Mount Airy passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Ms. Johnson was born in Austin, Texas on September 24, 1954, to the late Fred and Dovie Reich Boggs. Freda was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She had a strong faith and is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mr. Johnson will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Jessica McCarty Millwood, Michelle McCarty Porter and Steven; son, Alton Johnson, Jr. six grandchildren and spouses, Zachary McCarty and Ashlee Welsh, Sierra Millwood, Seth Jacob Jarvis and Marie Willard, Kristian Porter and Miah, Makayla Strong and Aquay; four great-grandchildren, Lily McCarty, Levi McCarty, Gage McCarty, Nala Strong; two sister, Julia Boggs Morgan, Carmel Boggs Sills; a brother, Freddy Boggs; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Johnson was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amber Marie McCarty, sister, Joy Dell Boggs McDonald; and two brothers, Ricky Boggs, Rex Byrd. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church in Mount Ary with Reverend Randy Edwards officiating. No formal visitation will be held. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
