Garnett Wade Venable

Mr. Garnett Wade Venable, 72, of 1364 Siloam Road, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday night, October 6, 2015, at his home. Mr. Venable was born July 21, 1943, in Surry County, the son of the late Sherman and Christine Norman Venable. Garnett retired from Northern Hospital of Surry County and was a member of Gospel Baptist Church in Pinnacle. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Lee Lawson and Debbie and Darrell Kirby, all of Mount Airy; a son, Frankie Venable of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Santana Lawson, Amanda Lawson, Dustin Lawson, and Brittany Kirby; a sister and brother-in-law, Rita Jo and Lonnie Atkins of Mount Airy; three half-sisters, Faye Stanley and Carrie Lee Flippin, both of Mount Airy, and Alma Lou Vernon of Dobson; and two half-brothers, Chester Lee George of the home and Roby Venable of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Venable was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Poff Venable. A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. John Hylton and the Rev. Bill Watson officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at the cemetery. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
