Garry James Surratt

Mr. Garry James Surratt, 70, of 331 Surratt Drive, Lambsburg, VA, passed away Monday evening, July 20, 2015, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Surratt was born September 7, 1944, in Surry County, the son of the late Homer James and Iva Beasley Surratt. Garry worked at Bassett Furniture Company for many years and attended Genesis Full Gospel Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Kay Frances Jones Surratt of the home; a sister and brother-in-law, Opaline and Aubrey Hooker of Mount Airy; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Vernon and Ann Surratt and Pat Surratt, all of Lambsburg, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Surratt was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Surratt. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Genesis Full Gospel Church, with the Rev. Tom Slate, the Rev. George Junior Jones, and the Rev. Donnie Hooker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
