Mr. Gary Noland Anderson (W4IVF), age 67 of Stuart, Virginia passed away at his home on Sunday, September 21, 2025. He was born in Patrick County on September 20, 1958, to the late Herbert Handy Anderson and Lucy Jane Thomas Anderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Anderson Davis; a brother -in-law, Paul S. Davis Jr.; a nephew, Matthew Anderson; and a niece, Regina Anderson. Gary graduated from Patrick County High School and continued his education at Virginia Western Community College and Virginia Tech. After graduating he pursued his bachelor’s degree at North Carolina State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He was licensed in FCC Amateur Extra & FCC First Class General Radiotelephone. He was known as W4IVF on the airways and was a member of the Potomac Valley Radio Club (PVRC). Gary was the manager of the Virginia Traffic Net.
Left to cherish the memories of Gary are his brother, James “Jimmy” Anderson and wife, Suzanne of Imlay City, MI; a nephew, Paul S. Davis III and wife, Katrinka of Thomasville, NC; a niece, Teresa D. Queen and husband, Wesley of Ridgeway, VA; great niece, Katrina Morrow and husband Jordan of Imlay City, MI; a great-great niece, Elowen Morrow and a great-great nephew, Lincoln Morrow.
The funeral service for Gary will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Kenneth Bowles officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to PVRC Scholarship Fund via the ARRL Foundation (contact Kevin Beal at 860-594-0317 or kbeal@arrl.org) which awards yearly scholarships to amateur radio operators pursuing higher education, or your favorite charity.
