George Vernon Davis

Mr. George Vernon Davis, age 91, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon February 19, 2023, at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation in Mount Airy surrounded by his loving family.  He was born December 10, 1931, in Forsyth County to the late Albert and Nora Louise Davis.  Mr. Davis retired from Proctor Silex after over 40 years of service.  He also proudly served our country as a Corporal in the US Army and was a member in good standing of Granite Masonic Lodge #322 AF & AM for over 50 years.  Mr. Davis is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Margaret Lucille Smith Davis of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie Sue Davis Edwards and Anthony “Tony”; grandson, Chadwyck Edwards and Andrew; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Coon, Mary Lou Bee, and Julia Robbins; and two brothers, Daniel Davis and Frank Davis.  Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday February 22, 2023, at Mt. Bethel Moravian Church at 2:00PM with the Rev. Charles Fishel officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 ~ 1:30PM and go in procession to the church for the service.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorials can be made to Mt. Bethel Moravian Church, 127 Mt. Bethel Road, Cana, VA 24317.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Davis family.
