George Stephen Lakey

Mr. George Stephen "Steve" Lakey, 55, of 115 Home Trail, Mount Airy, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 18, 2012, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Lakey was born May 3, 1956, in Surry County, the only child born to Quiller Lincoln and Vivian Thomas Lakey. He worked as a machine fixer at Sara Lee Corporation and was a member of the Christian faith. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Kim Lakey of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Anna Lakey, Ben Lakey, and Jaxon Lakey, all of Mount Airy; and his parents, Quiller Lincoln and Vivian Thomas Lakey of Mount Airy. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 20, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Ronald Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Tim and Kim Lakey, 592 Round Peak Church Road, Mount Airy.
