Mrs. Georgia Moser Johnson Hatcher, 92, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Northern Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 20, 1933, in Surry County, to the late James Dallas and Effie Haymore Moser. She was one of the oldest living members of Antioch Baptist Church, where she was a faithful and devoted member until her health kept her from attending.
She retired from Proctor-Silex after more than 30 years of service. After retirement, she enjoyed catering wedding receptions and always baking for others. As her siblings aged and their health declined, she was able to love and care for them. She loved deeply, served quietly, and never stopped giving.
The family would like to especially thank the employees of Northern Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. They all became like family, and we could not have asked for any better love and care for our precious Mom/Granny while she was a resident there.
She is survived by a daughter, Wanda Johnson of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Liz Johnson of Mount Airy; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Mark Brown of Mount Airy, Ashley and Joseph Crouse of Mount Airy, Eddie and Haley Johnson of Vallejo, CA, and Camille and Spencer Easter of Mount Airy; and a great-grandchild, Willow Crouse of Mount Airy. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hatcher was preceded in death by her first husband and love of her life, Edward Martin Johnson; a sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Fermon Creed; and four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Tom and Loraine Moser, Wayne and Sally Moser, Roscoe and Nina Moser, and J.D. Moser, Jr. Georgia was also blessed to find love again at the age of 80 and enjoyed five wonderful years with her second husband, David B. Hatcher, before his passing in 2019.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dale Wallace, Dr. Darrell Tate, and the Rev. Grant Atkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Northern Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility Activity Fund, ATTN: Jenny Triplett, 830 Rockford Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
