Mrs. Geraldine Benge Martin, age 87 of Mount Airy entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Martin was born on January 6, 1939, in Surry County to the late Clarence Calloway and Ida Ellen Coe Benge. Geraldine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Martin Romeo and Vinny; son, David Martin; three grandchildren, Ashley Vaughn and Kevin, Alicia Vipperman and Robert Mayol, Tyler Vipperman and Jessica; six great-grandchildren, Shaylee Graham, Leif White, Keagan Vipperman, Ian Mayol, Reegan Vaughn, Xander Vaughn; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Martin; two sons, Gary Dean Martin, Claude Leon Martin; three sisters, Maggie Benge Whitaker, Onita Benge Riggs, Sadie Benge Sprinkle; and a brother, Cecil Benge. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Reverend Dennis Bledsoe officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Dobson. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Moody Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
