Gertrude Montgomery

Ms. Gertrude Marshall Montgomery, 92, of Ararat, VA, passed away at Heritage Hall - Laurel Meadows Saturday, February 13, 2021.  She was born in Patrick County January 6, 1929 to the late Sherman and Lettie Pruitt Marshall.  Mrs. Montgomery retired from Brown-Wooten after many years of service.  She was a soft-spoken, gentle woman that loved her family and will be dearly missed.  She is survived by her caring daughter-in-law, Kendra Jones Montgomery; her dearly loved grandchildren and spouses, Shawn and Chenoa Montgomery, and Patricia and Wade Stover; precious great-grandchildren, Thomas Montgomery, Alexis Montgomery, Jacob Melton, Gabriel Melton, and Titus Stover; a sister, Sylvia Harold; and brothers and a sister-in-law, John Henry and Linda Marshall, and Bobby Quesinberry.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her husband, Folger Montgomery; her son, Doyle Montgomery; and sisters, Attrice Thompson, and Ethel Kirk.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Doe Run Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Vaughan officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.  Mrs. Montgomery will lie-in-state at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Wednesday from 8:00 until 11:00 am.
