Gilmer "Gary" Collins

Mr. Gilmer Gary Collins, age 69, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, December 21, 2024, at his residence with his wishes being fulfilled. Mr. Collins was born in Patrick County, October 4, 1955, to the late Gilmer Troy Collins and Etta Mae Inman Collins. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend, he’ll be deeply missed by all who knew him. Mr. Collins is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Brandon Collins and girlfriend Amanda, Justin Collins and Jennifer; grandchildren, Gary Lewis, Jr., Magan Renae Lewis, Lane Collins, Hunter Collins, Kyrsten Collins, Emory Collins,; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Boles and John, June Randall and Jason; soulmate and friend, Tammy McDowell; step-daughter, Cristy White and (MJ); step-grandchildren, Leah White, Mackenzie White; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Lewis; sister, Betty Smith. Per Mr. Collins’ request, there will be no formal services held at this time. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and his caregivers for the care and compassion shown during his sickness.
