Mrs. Gladys Gravley McHone, 82, of 224 Southview Street, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, March 21, 2012, at her home. Mrs. McHone was born March 13, 1930, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Ike and Pearl King Gravley. For 49 years, she was married to the love of her life, Arnold McHone. Gladys retired from Renfro Corporation after 42 years of service. Arnold, along with her parents, preceded her in death with also her brother, Jack Gravley, who was killed in action in Korea; and two sisters, Mabel Lewis and Polly Gessley. Survivors include two sisters, Thelma Cruise Connor of Mount Airy and Margie Johnson of Rock Hill, SC; a brother, Jim Gravley of Hickory; a stepson, Steven McHone and his wife, Pam, of Gibsonville; a stepdaughter, Susan Fear of Graham; a step granddaughter, Kimberly McHone of Greensboro; a special niece, Michelle King and her husband, Mark, of Mount Airy; special great nieces, Megan King and Morgan King; along with many other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her church family, who has been so dear to her. Gladys was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church, where the family will greet friends Thursday night from 6:30 until 8:30 PM. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 23, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Flat Rock Baptist Church and conducted by the Rev. Bailey Nelson, pastor; Chaplain Justin Nelson of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care; Peggy Taylor, a special niece; and Philip Taylor, a special nephew. Interment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, where she will be laid to rest by Dr. Jon Cawley. Memorial contributions may be made to Flat Rock Baptist Church, P.O.
