Gracie Frances Orser

Mrs. Gracie Frances Easter Orser, 82, of Max Meadows, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Golden Living in Galax.  She was born in Carroll County, VA, on March 18, 1940, to the late, Jabe Anderson Easter and Ada Alice Jones Easter.  After graduation from Franklin High School, she started a career in Greensboro as a telephone operator with Bell South, then moved to Jacksonville, Florida to continue her career in the late 60’s to become a systems technician until she retired in 2002.  Mrs. Orser enjoyed time on the beach and hiking with her family on mountain trails.  She loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers.  When Mrs. Orser’s health began to fail, she moved to her daughter’s where she remained for the last five years.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Howard Porter; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Devon Mayfield, Benjamin Garrett Porter, Carrie Grace Porter; three great grandchildren; sisters, Alma Mathis, Ila Mary Jannuzzio; brothers and sister-in-law, Ray Easter and Elaine, Denny Easter; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents Mrs. Orser was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Densmore Orser; sisters, Ruth Tolbert, and Rosea Easter; brothers, Russell Easter and Lawrence Easter, and an infant brother Roy Easter.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Chaplain Jason Kline officiating.  A private interment will be in Easter - Jake Leonard Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
