Gwendolyn Charmaine Meggs

On October 2, 2015 at 11:19 AM our dear loving mother Gwendolyn Charmaine Meggs passed away at 80 years of age in Winston-Salem, NC. Since July 2014 she has resided with her daughter, Darlene Knott in Mount Airy, NC. Gwen was born July 26, 1935 in Marietta, GA. In 1948 her family moved to California where she met Henry D. Meggs in 1950. They had a wonderful 50 years together prior to Henry’s passing in 2003. Gwen worked most of her life in management with her biggest moment being appointed Airport Administrator at Shephard Airforce Base in Texas and later lived in Pismo Beach, CA after the passing of her parents. In 1996 Mrs. Meggs moved to Kingman, AZ where she worked for Wal-Mart, taking on a new adventure as cashier. She spoke highly of her co-workers and loved the many friends and acquaintances she made along the way. Due to illness, at the age of 79, Gwen was forced to retire and move to Mt. Airy, NC to live with her daughter, Darlene. Her hobbies ware music and dancing. She loved dancing all night. Her favorite music was country and oldies but Elvis Presley was her idol. Gwen is survived by her twin girls, Darlene Knott and Arlene Boolay; son-in-law, Smak Boolay; grandchildren, Rashid Boolay, Sarah Boolay-Diaz; a sister, Bonell Deaner of Kingman, AZ and many friends of Kingman, AZ.
