Harold Flournoy Hill

Mr. Harold Flournoy Hill, age 89, of Hillsville, VA, passed away on Sunday afternoon August 13, 2023, at Waddell Nursing and Rehab.  He was born in Carroll County on January 18, 1934, to the late Arnold Jackson Hill and Virginia Mildred Combs Hill.  He proudly served our country in the US Army and was a retired dairy farmer.  Mr. Hill also drove a school bus for 22 years for the Fancy Gap area.  Left to cherish his memory are two daughters and a son-in-law, Melody and Butch Horton, and Beverly Stephens; three grandchildren, Andrew Horton, Caleb Stephens, and Rachel Stephens Hughes and Matthew; a great-grandson, Levi Scott Hughes; a brother-in-law, Billy and Bonnie Jones; nieces, Brenda and Bud  Smith and Nada and Jerry Goad; and many other family and friends.  In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Emma Jean Jones Hill; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ava Lorene Hill Edwards and Odell.  Graveside services will be held on Thursday August 17, 2023, at Semones Family Cemetery at 11:00am with Pastor Gary Horton and Pastor Austin Keith officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 1115 Hillsville, VA.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Semones Family Cemetery, c/o Kenneth Largen, 2962 Fancy Gap Highway, Hillsville, VA 24343.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at Waddell Nursing and Rehab for all of the love and care shown to Papa during his stay.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
