Mr. Harry Edwin Nichols, 78 of New London, NC, formerly of White Plains, passed away Friday, July 24, 2026. He was born in Surry County, October 15, 1947, to the late Tom and Ernie Strickland Nichols. Harry was a local farmer who also worked for years at Hylton Supply Co. and Surry Electric Motors. He volunteered for many years at White Plains Volunteer Fire Department in many capacities. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Kaye Morris Nichols of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Mike Prince of Mooresville, and Mandy and Rusty Melton of New London; and “precious” grandchildren, Riley Prince of Lexington, SC, Colin Prince and fiancée Laura Escabar of Statesville, NC; and Nichols Melton of New London, NC. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ann Nichols, and special aunts, Jack Nichols and Polly Nichols. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27, 2026, at 1:00pm at White Plains Friends Meeting with Mr. Chad Badgett leading the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to White Plains Volunteer Fire Department or to White Plains Friends Meeting. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
