Hassie Moore Mayes Jarrell, age 92, born April 8, 1933, born to Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Riley “Tommy” Moore and Trisha Tolbert Moore, passed from this life on Friday, July 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Jarrell retired from Tultex Corp in Dobson, NC after 26 years.

Hassie first married Curtis Hoover Mayes, the father of her children. Her second marriage to Ellis Woodrow Jarrell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her foster parents Houston and Etta Moore, husbands, Curtis Mayes, Woodrow Jarrell, a brother Edd Moore of Sanford, NC, a sister Mary Lee Moore Kittrell of SC, and five children David Lee Mayes, Delane Dale Mayes, Nelvra Mayes Dozier, Dennis Curtis Mayes, Nedra Ann Mayes Edwards; 2 sons-in-law Kenneth Earl Dozier, and Larry Dean Payne.

Mrs. Jarrell is survived by one daughter, Shirley Mayes Payne of Dobson, NC, 14 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, 16 Great Great Grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, July 21, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 AM, at Ladonia Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, in the Church, with Rev. Ashley Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Ladonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Moody-Davis Funeral Service is serving the Jarrell family.
