Hattie Josephine Seal

Miss Hattie Josephine "Josie" Seal, 100, of Lowgap, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, at Golden Living Center-Surry Community. She was born August 13, 1912, in Surry County, to the late Sam Seal, Sr. and Drucilla McHone Seal. Miss Seal was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was a loving sister and a friend to all who knew her. She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hawks of Lowgap; a niece and her spouse, Nancy and David McPeak, Sr. of Mount Airy; great nephews and their spouses, David McPeak, Jr. and Emily of Mount Airy, Brian McPeak and Adrian of Lowgap, and Jacky Seal and Pam of Mount Airy; great great nephew, Carter McPeak of Mount Airy; great great niece, Ava McPeak of Lowgap; many other nieces and nephews; and special friends, Wilda Tolbert and Nick and Debbie Jarrell, all of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Miss Seal was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Johnson and Sally Worrell; seven brothers, Lonzo, Luther, Benton, Oscar, Allen, Sam, Jr., and Wesley Seal; a niece, Alice Horton; two nephews, Robert and Jack Seal. The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 7, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Wallace, the Rev. Tony Holder, and the Rev. Robert McCrary officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
