Hazel Marie Ayers Dalton

Mrs. Hazel Marie Ayers Dalton, 89, of 137 Petunia Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday evening, December 6, 2014, at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Dalton was born July 11, 1925, in Carroll County, VA, to the late David and Mary Horton Ayers. Hazel retired as an inspector from Bassett Furniture after many years of service. She is survived by her husband, Harold Monroe Dalton of the home; a son and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Frances McMillian and Aladean McMillian, all of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Shoree Gunther and her husband, Richard, of Roaring River and Kevin McMillian of Mount Airy; and two sisters, Hallie McMillian and Hassie Love, both of Cana, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by a son, Melvin McMillian; and a brother, Harvey Ayers. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cana, VA, with the Rev. Isreal Gwyn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
