Hazel Virginia Bowman King

Mrs. Hazel Virginia Bowman King age 95 of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday June 28, 2014 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. King was born May 7, 1919 in Surry County to the late Walter and Mara Phillips Bowman; she was a homemaker and attended Joy Light Baptist Church until her health declined. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law Rachel and Jess Perez, Peggy and Ray Hawks and Linda Bryant all of Mt. Airy, two sons and daughters-in-law Junior and JoAnn King, Danny and Sandy King and Joyce King all of Mt. Airy, fifteen grandchildren and one sister Maude Bryant of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband Robert Wilburn King, two sons Donald Ray King and Billy Gray King, four sisters Thelma Lou, Della May, Catholene and Cena Mae and by four brothers Ernest, Benton, William Ray and Wade Junior "Buck" Bowman. Graveside services will be held Tuesday July 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Blue Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with services conducted by Rev. Dale Bass. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time for the service at the cemetery.
