H.C. "Tom" Harold

Mr. H.C. “Tom” Harold, 93, of Ararat, VA, passed away Wednesday evening, October 21, 2026, at his home. Mr. Harold was born February 13, 1933, in Patrick County, VA, the son of the late M.F. and Agnes Puckett Harold. Tom spent many years working in his orchard, H.C. Harold Orchard, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. His years of hard work reflected his appreciation for the land and the simple satisfaction of an honest day’s work. He is survived by two children, Sandra Wallace (Richard) and Sammy Harold (Nancy); eight grandchildren, Dale Harold (Ashley), Karen Pell (Dempsey), Melissa Nunn (Jamey), Christa Burnette (Mike), Angela Holder (Melissa), Jarrett Harold, Pixie Pack (Joey), and Braxton Harold; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Joy Hiatt Harold; two children, Billy Harold and Harry Harold; and three brothers, Bruce Harold, M.C. Harold, and Woodrow Harold (infant). The funeral service will be held Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Timmy Crotts and the Rev. Scotty Bullins officiating. Burial will follow in the Harold Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
