Helen Melbena Ausburne

Miss Helen Melbena Ausburne, 91, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Miss Ausburne was born September 4, 1924, in Surry County, to the late Sanford and Minnie Goins Ausburne. Helen retired from Renfro Corporation after 44 years of service and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Lib" Ausburne of Mount Airy; several cousins; and special friends, Steve and Cathy Childress, Virginia Rogers, and Wanda Dillard. In addition to her parents, Miss Ausburne was preceded in death by a brother, Vance Ausburne. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015, at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Winford Davis and the Rev. Kenneth Jessup officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
