Helen Russell Edwards

Miss Helen Russell Edwards age 92 of 2600 Croasdaile Farm Parkway, Durham, NC, passed away on Friday January 19, 2007 at Croasdaile United Methodist Village Chapel in Durham. Miss. Edwards was born in Greene County on March 29, 1914 daughter of the late Eugene S. Edwards and Sallie Palmer Edwards. She was a graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and retired from the Internal Revenue Service. Mrs. Edwards was a veteran of the United States Army where she served during World War II and she was member of University Methodist Church in Chapel Hill, NC. She will be remembered for her never ending enthusiasm. She is survived by nieces and nephews; Hilda Allen of High Point, Dr. Margaret Edwards of Raleigh, Richard Wimbish of Mount Airy, John E. Parker of Melbourne, FL, Eugene S. Edwards, III of Asheville and Dr. William Edwards of Norwich, VT; many grand nieces and nephews; and many great-great nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Hilda C. Edwards of Raleigh. In addition to her parents Miss Edwards was preceded in death by her best friend Sarah Palmer Haynes. Funeral services will be held on Monday January 22, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Croasdaile United Methodist Retirement Village Chapel in Durham. The service will be conducted by Chaplain Milton Hadley and Associate Chaplain Denise Waters with interment to follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, NC at 2:00 PM. The Edwards family will receive friends at the Croasdaile UMC Village Chapel from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
