Helen Marie Beck Nichols

Mrs. Helen Marie Beck Nichols, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 27, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  Mrs. Nichols was born March 12, 1941, in Carroll County, VA, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Beck, Sr. and Melita Jane Shinault Beck.  Helen worked as an administrative assistant at Laboratory Supply Company in Winston-Salem for many years and was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Jeff Irwin of Mount Airy; her stepgrandchildren, Amanda Irwin (Tom) of Wilmington, Michael and Liz Irwin of Marlton, NJ, and Elizabeth Irwin (Cole) of Cochranton, PA; three sisters, Ruth Jones of Huntsville, AL, Betty Bryant of Mount Airy, and Eunice Ward of Lambsburg, VA; a brother and two sisters-in-law, James and Pauline Beck and Gracie Beck, all of Lambsburg, VA; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Ellis Nichols; two sisters, Jane Trent and Mary Smith; and a brother, Robert Lee Beck, Jr.  The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 1, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Dr. Darrell Tate officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Maria and Jeff Irwin at 155 Ridgewood Drive, Mount Airy.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Yokefellow Co-Operative Ministry, 215 Jones School Road, Mount Airy, NC  27030; or Surry Medical Ministries, P.O. Box 349, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love, care, and compassion shown by the staff at Surry County Emergency Medical Services, the Mount Airy Fire Department, the Mount Airy Police Department, and the emergency department staff at Forsyth Medical Center.
