Ida Mae Shelton

Mrs. Ida Mae Golding Shelton, 95, of Mt Airy, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Pavilion Health Care in Charlotte. She was born in Carroll County Virginia on March 23, 1926, to the late Squire Franklin and Martha Elizabeth Carson Golding. She lived a beautiful long life, full of spirit and love. She was a loving, mother, and grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memories are son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Linda Shelton; grandchildren, Kyle Shelton and wife Holly, Cody Shelton; special friend, Julia Shelton who in Ida’s words “was always there for me, in the good and bad times”; sister-in-law, Barbara Macy; several nieces and nephews; Ida wanted to send a special thanks to her niece Freta Deatherage for all the care and help given. Ida said, “I couldn’t have made it without her” also a special thanks to her niece, Sylvia Jacobs. In addition to her parents Mrs. Shelton was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Kyle” Shelton; brothers, Emmet, Ralph, and Harvey Golding; sisters, Mamie Ramey, Fannie McKinney, Maude Edwards, Ruth Barker, and Bertha Mobley. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy, with services conducted by Dr. Jonathan Barker and Rev. Darrell Hall. Burial will follow in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time for the service at the funeral home.
