Ima Lois Goad Sumner

Mrs. Ima Lois Goad Sumner, age 90, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Thursday, July 23,2026 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born on August 8, 1935, in Carrol County to the late Elbert and Perlie Mae Horton Goad. Mrs. Sumner was retired from Cross Creek Apparel and a member of Skyview Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter and son-in-law, Karen Jackson (Odell); grandson, Seth Jackson; special brother-in-law, Billie Slate; numerous nieces and nephews; stepsons, Mark Sumner (Sherry), Tommy Sumner; step-daughter-in-law, Diane Sumner. In addition to her parents Mrs. Sumner was preceded in death by her husband, Roby DeHart Sumner, sister, Icy Faye Goad Slate, brother, Obie Eldon Goad; stepson, Alan Sumner. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Skyview Missionary Baptist Church in Fancy Gap with Rev. Gary Horton officiating. The family will visit with friends at the cemetery after the graveside. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Skyview Baptist Church 129 Skyview Drive, Fancy Gap, VA 24328.
