Mrs. Imogene Faye Farmer Gravely, 92, of Mount Airy, a devoted wife and beloved mother, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 12, 2026, at Northern Regional Hospital. Mrs. Gravely was born February 19, 1934, in Surry County, to the late Coy Kimbro and Katy Elizabeth Kirkman Farmer. Imogene dedicated her life to creating a loving home for her family and was a constant source of encouragement, strength, and unwavering support to each of them. She loved the Lord and faithfully ministered to others, especially through her tape ministry. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James Robert “Buddy” Gravely; her daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Mark Heath, Darlene and Tim Snow, and Kathy Alderman and D.R. Smith, III; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry and Lari Alderman and Mark Alderman; a daughter-in-law, Sue Alderman; her grandchildren, Coy and Kristi Alderman, Shawnee and Chuck Creasy, Elizabeth Shinault, Jake and Courtney Salgado, Holli and Dylan Toney, and Kari Brandt; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Hurley and Polly Farmer; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gravely was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Lane Alderman; a sister, Vera Farmer Hall; and a brother, Cecil Coy Farmer. A private celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
