Iola Gammons Inman

Mrs. Frances Iola Gammons Inman, 99, of Westfield, passed away Wednesday June 18, 2025, at Northern Regional Hospital. She was born January 28, 1926, in Surry County to the late William Reid Gammons and Essie Ada Reynolds Gammons. Iola was a faithful member of Westfield Friends Church, always in attendance as long as her health would let her. She was a hardworking farmer and homemaker. She was a very well-known quilt maker and loved to can her vegetables. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Leon Inman (Connie), and Reid Wayne Inman; grandchildren, Patrick Inman (Ashley), Jonathan Inman (Valicia), and Kristin Williams (Stan); great grandchildren, Trevor Inman (Carly), Austin Inman, Carlie Inman, and Bryson Inman; two great great grandsons, Nash Inman and Parks Inman; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Geraldine Vaughn, and Carolyn and Clarence Campbell; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Leonard and Lavern Gammons, and Clinard Gammons; and several other family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gammons was preceded in death by her husband, James Elliott Inman; two sisters, Nancy Viola Gammons Hiatt and Getrude Rena Gammons Marion; and by four brothers, William Clyde Gammons, James Garl Gammons, Zoy Israel Gammons, and John Almer Gammons, Sr. Funeral services will be held Sunday June 22, 2025, at 2:30pm in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Pastor Rickey Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Westfield Friends Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday at Moody’s from 1:00 – 2:30pm. The Inman family would like to give a huge thank you to Carolyn Flippin, Tina Abbott, and Missy Hammond, Northern Regional Hospital Skilled Care staff, and the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for all of the love and support given to Iola and the family.
